For over 125 years, White Oak Baptist Church has stood as a testament to God’s faithfulness in Greenville, South Carolina. In 1877, under the shelter of a large oak, nine believers in Jesus Christ listened to the preaching of His gospel near what is today White Oak cemetery. The church officially organized on March 17, 1895, and erected a gabled wooden building on White Oak Road in 1898. As Greenville grew, the congregation voted to move. In 1962, a church featuring a 110-foot steeple, 16-foot antique glass windows, and a large pipe organ opened several hundred yards away on Wade Hampton Boulevard, our current location.
